EducationUIC - BA, Secondary English Education
ExperienceI earned my bachelor's degree in English Education from the University of Illinois. In the decade following, I have had the privilege of teaching students in a variety of settings, including teaching British and World Literature in an evening school program, teaching high school Literature courses, and my current position as an English teacher at an alternative high school. My tutoring experiences have also been extremely diverse, and I have experience tutoring students from elementary schoolers to college students. I am able to tutor many different English concepts, including reading, writing, editing, phonics, literature, grammar, and public speaking. I'm also happy to help students prepare for standardized tests, including the ACT, COMPASS, DAT, GRE, GMAT, PSAT, SAT, and SSAT. I always try to keep my students' goals and personal skill levels in mind as I teach, because I believe that it's important to modify my teaching plan to fit each student's individual learning style. As a tutor, I try to remain positive and enthusiastic in order to create a productive learning environment. When I'm not tutoring, I like to go for walks, cook, throw boomerangs, read, and play backgammon.
